Saturday morning....
Excellent Rotary Raffle Royale last night - we hope to net $50,000 for community projects. Got home around midnight. I had about 30 people on the "ticket board" team. As long as they get enough to eat and drink, it is a very merry time for all!
Ian and Mom are off to Hagerstown for U-11 lacrosse and Dad, Grace and Mike back to Middletown for U-13.
We are still very excited about Grace's news but did want to put some perspective on it. While she is doing very well, she is testing at about 25 months (she is 33 months old). Excellent for a Trisomy 21 (DS) diagnosis but of course delayed. Many children in the Frederick County Developmental Center's Infant & Toddler program (where we get all her free services - occupational, speech, physical and educational therapies) are also delayed but do not have DS. Children qualify for the I&T program with certain diagnoses, such as DS, or if a typical child has a 25% delay.
I think her success is highly attributable to the I&T program but more so due to the Loyola College's Down Syndrome Speech clinic (the Friday trips to Columbia, MD) and Cecilia Hedges, our private certified speech pathologist, here in Frederick. We are so thankful that we live in this area and have access to such resources. C

I think that Gracie's parents can take a bow, too....
for a total commitment of love, care, time, determination, etc., etc., etc.,...
and Michael and Ian, for sharing in all of that as well!
Happy Birthday - and Mother's Day!
Enjoy your day..
Love,
Mam
